Activity status and cardiovascular diseases: a cross-sectional study based on the results of Rafsanjan Cohort Study (2020)

Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality across globe. Activity status used as a social class marker CVDs. Objectives: The present study aimed to analyze associations between occupational CVDs in Iranian population. Methods: cross-sectional was conducted on 9,990 subjects aged 35-70 years enrolled Rafsanjan Cohort Study (RCS), one Prospective Epidemiological Research Studies Iran (PERSIAN). Occupational status, socio-demographic characteristics, physical activity, cigarette hookah smoking, opium use, alcohol consumption were assessed through six pre-designed questionnaires. Anthropometric, body mass index (BMI), medical history, laboratory tests also performed. defined presence ischemic heart (IHD) or myocardial infarction (MI). Prevalence ratios calculated for each activity CVD using Poisson regression models. Results: activities assigned two classes: homemaker (40.17%) largest group I, followed by self-employed (34.44%), employed (13.03%), retired (10.38%), unemployed (1.62%). In II, included pistachio farmers (12.61%), copper miners (3.62%), others (83.76%). A percentage people illiterate (9.50%), especially (61.39%). general, 8.71% 2.98% participants suffered from IHD MI, respectively. After adjusting other there no significant association Conclusion: As evidenced obtained results, not associated with risk MI.
